The mission of the Northwest Career and Technical Academy is to boldly educate today’s learners for tomorrow’s challenges by developing advanced skills through unique hands-on experiences in a professional setting, utilizing community partnerships, innovative ideas, and contemporary technologies.

East Career and Technical Academy

East Career and Technical Academy is a comprehensive magnet high school that offers several distinct program areas of study. Students select their program of choice when applying for admission. Students will follow a four-year sequence of courses as specified for their program area. Students can choose coursework in Education, Medical Professions, Culinary Arts, Entertainment Marketing & Hospitality, Automotive Mechanical Technology, Information Technology Systems, Construction Technology, and Electronics Technology. Honors and Advanced Placement classes will be offered at East Tech to prepare students to transition to post-secondary institutions. Rigorous coursework, hands-on projects, job-shadowing, and internships will give students first-hand experience in their selected program areas. In addition, students will have the opportunity to earn college credits through the 2+2 Tech Prep program and through Advanced Placement Courses

Advanced Technologies Academy

Advanced Technologies Academy is one of Clark County School District’s Magnet/CTA Schools. The Advanced Technologies Academy mission is to empower a diverse student body to succeed in a competitive world by promoting academic concepts, technological skills, and ethical behavior. It’s curricular areas offer a culture of technology in both the core and program area classes and its mission is to empower a diverse student body by teaching the academic concepts and technological skills necessary to empower students to succeed in a highly competitive, technologically changing world. A-TECH students embark on a learning experience designed to maximize opportunity and potential. This high-achieving, Blue Ribbon school offers academic distinction and technological excellence to those who choose one of its eight college-preparatory programs.

Engineering and Medicine Magnet School at Rancho High School

The Rancho High School Medical Academy is the head-start program for those interested in becoming doctors, dentists, pharmacists, veterinarians, and nurses. Pre-Medical students focus on terminology, equipment operation & care, and the fundamental principles of medicine. Students prepare for college & careers by studying anatomy & physiology, disease & diagnosis, and injury & evaluation.
Rancho’s Flight program also boasts two dynamic strands: Pilot Training & UAS. In these programs, students are introduced to the aeronautical & transportation sciences. Students learn the fundamentals of flight, weather, space travel, & rocketry through hands-on projects in our state-of-the-art aviation lab. In junior year, students take Aviation Technology III which is prepares them for the FAA Private Pilot Knowledge Test. As seniors students chose to earn their Private Pilot’s License or participate in our new Unmanned Aerial Systems & Operations (UAS) course.

The Academy of Mathematics, Science, and Technology at Jim Bridger Middle School

Bridger Middle School Mathematics and Science themes feature a unique technology-based learning environment. The aerospace and aviation programs introduce students to the basics of aerospace history, aviation concepts, and technology and career opportunities. Activities teach the basic forces of flight, rocketry skills, space exploration and living conditions in space. The biomedicine program introduces students to the medical field. Students receive training in the human body, disease, medical terminology and operation and care of medical equipment. Students learn the mathematical skills necessary to perform medical duties, hazards in the medical profession, and basic medical techniques and procedures. In the robotics program students learn how to build, program, operate and use robots in different environments. Robotics provides an introduction to the study of physics and engineering. The technology program focuses on the student learning to use the computer as a problem-solving tool. The students learn about the major components of a computer system, computer maintenance and repair, programming, web design, and graphing.

McCaw School of Mines

The McCaw School of Mines’ is built on the campus of Gordon McCaw Elementary School. The McCaw School of Mines’ is known as the “Jewel of the Desert.” This simulated mine experience is where kids come together to learn about the history of mining and the importance of mining in Nevada. It’s a fun, hands on field trip experience open to fourth grade students throughout the valley and it is completely free to public school students.

William McCool Science Center at Frank J. Lamping Elementary School

In the William McCool Science Center, science is something fun that you can touch. see, taste,small, and experience. Instead of just learning from textbooks, students at Lamping also enjoy the excitement of hands-on science in the William McCool Science center. Students have access to a space shuttle simulator, well-equipped labs, paleontology dig area, greenhouse, computers, a kitchen, a planetarium and more.

John C. Vanderburg Rainforest Biosphere

The Rainforest Biosphere is a 3,200 -square-foot ecosystem representing the Amazon Rainforest. The students at Vanderburg have taken advantage of the hands-on environment to study the rain forest and its inhabitants. Teachers have developed curriculum for all of the key biosphere areas, the Mayan temple, the rain forest environment complete with vegetation, live animals, bones and an archaeology dig sites, an amphitheater, computer lab, and “grow” lab with plants and the students can work with and take home in recycled pots.

International Baccalaureate School At Sandy Miller Elementary School

The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment. These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

Math and Science Magnet School At Mabel Hoggard Elementary School

Mabel Hoggard Math & Science Magnet has the distinction of being the first elementary magnet school established in Las Vegas and is accredited through the Northwest Association of Accredited Schools. At Hoggard, students participate in a rigorous academic curriculum with an emphasis on science, mathematics and technology. They are taught the art of scientific investigation and mathematical problem solving with the use of computer technology. The curriculum is highly motivational with extensive hands on math and science experiences. Students receive extended programs and activities through Explorations in art, music, and physical education classes as well as the schools many outdoor and indoor laboratory programs.
