Western High School has a academy on campus that is STEM College Readiness with courses on Nursing Assistant and Sports Medicine.
The Computer Integrated Manufacturing courses at Palo Verde High school offers courses where students can question how are things made? What processes go into creating products? Is the process for making a water bottle the same as it is for a
musical instrument? How do assembly lines work? How has automation changed the face of manufacturing? While students
discover the answers to these questions, they?re learning about the history of manufacturing, robotics and automation, manufacturing
processes, computer modeling, manufacturing equipment, and flexible manufacturing systems.
The Mojave Medical Academy has a 3 year program sequence that you can start as a freshman or sophomore. Our program currently has two branches of study that you will focus on during your second and 3rd year. You can either choose a pathway in Physical Therapy/Sports Medicine or Medical Assisting. You will leave our academy with an advanced knowledge of the healthcare field and actual patient care experience that you can learn in our very own physical therapy/rehabilitation clinic.
Desert Oasis High School offers Students to the chance to take classes in sports medicine. In these courses they will receive instructions in terminology, physical fitness, anatomy and physiology, kinesiology, injury evaluation and prevention procedures, and careers in sports medicine. Instructional practices incorporate integration of diversity awareness
including appreciation of all cultures and their important contributions to society. The appropriate use of technology is an integral part of this course.
Bonanza High School offers 3 courses in Fire Science where students learn the principle of fire protection, chemistry and prevention techniques with an emphasis on the use of fire equipment. Students also learn the start and spread of wildfires and the procedures to respond to emergency incidents.
The Academy of Mathematics, science and applied technology (A.M.S.A.T) focuses on a specialized area of study as students move through their high school coursework. The benefits of this program are reduced student/ teacher ratio, college credits are available, extended instructional day, unique curriculum, and collaboration with UNLV and CSN.
The magnet program, in conjunction with Project Lead The Way, introduces students to the many fields of engineering. The curriculum makes Cashman Middle School the magnet of choice for students seeking an education that answers twenty-first century challenges. AMSE is a cutting-edge program that addresses the interest of middle school students, while incorporating the national standards in math, science, and technology. The extended day program provides students with 160 minute math and science blocks, allowing 80 minutes of instructional time per subject, per day.
Skybot Engineering & Business Innovation Challenge (SEBIC) mission is to promote the enhancement of public knowledge and the inspiration of academic acceleration students at all levels of education through outreach programs that inspire, inform, enlighten, and achieve the necessary levels of STEM principals and practical application that help propel the United States to world leadership in robotics and UAS fields.
Undergraduate projects funded by the REU Site: Mechanisms of Evolution will focus on biological processes, such as mutation, genetic drift, migration, non-random mating and natural selection that drive heritable change. The goals of this proposal are to provide undergraduates with hypothesis-based projects that investigate one or more mechanisms of evolution, promote careers in science, reinforce the connection between genetics and evolution and highlight the accomplishments of evolutionary scholars. At the conclusion of the program, students will present their research results at a scientific colloquium. Students will receive a $5,250 stipend, housing and a travel subsidy.
