UNR Department of Mechanical Engineering

Our program is directed towards preparing motivated students to become professionally competent in one of several sub-disciplines of mechanical engineering, including solid mechanics, materials, biomedical, controls, and the fluid/thermal sciences. On admission each student is assigned a faculty advisor who will help outline an individual course of study tailored to fit that person’s particular background and interests.

UNR Davidson Math and Science Center

The Davidson Mathematics and Science Center provides an integrated and centralized 21st century environment for learning and research. The 100,000-square-foot state-of-the-art teaching and research facility with mathematics and science wings is enhanced with environment controls and space for culture preparation in eight biological science laboratories.

UNR MacKay School of Earth Sciences & Engineering

The Mackay School of Earth Sciences and Engineering (MSESE) is part of the College of Science. It is internationally renowned for its academic programs in the fundamental and applied Earth Sciences and Engineering. The MSESE has earned its international reputation by providing the engineering and minerals industry with highly trained graduates, conducting state-of-the-art research, and offering continuous public service to Nevada and the nation. Mackay offers high quality, personal education for students interested in math and science. It seeks to provide a student-focused and student-friendly atmosphere with small class sizes and a low student-to-faculty ratio.

Alliance for Climate Education (ACE)

ACE is the national leader in high school climate science education and an award-winning national nonprofit dedicated to educating America’s high school students about the science behind climate change and inspiring them to do something about it, while having fun along the way. We’re based in Oakland, California, with educator teams in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington, DC, Atlanta, New England, Colorado, Nevada, North Carolina and Wisconsin.

Urban Roots Garden Classrooms

Urban Roots was developed with the vision of changing the way kids EAT and LEARN. Today we continue to work with schools, families and our community to examine the next generation’s relationship to the land, their studies, and themselves. We offer a wide array of educational programming from camps, to farm school, and garden programs for schools!

Sierra Nevada Journeys

Sierra Nevada Journeys is the leading provider of experiential education in the greater Reno/Lake Tahoe area, serving both students and teachers in Nevada and California. We carry out our mission through in-school lessons, after-school programs, field-based experiences, residential outdoor school, and summer camps. Each program focuses on hands-on, inquiry-based education. We sustain those student learning experiences through professional development opportunities for educators. Sierra Nevada Journeys works with more than 6,000 students and 1,000 teachers each year.

Nevada Agriculture in the Classroom

Nevada Agriculture in the Classroom is a resource for teachers to help students develop an understanding of the food, fiber and landscaping systems and how agriculture affects their daily lives. This knowledge encourages students to function more effectively as agriculturally literate citizens, supportive of wise environmental policies and programs.
Teachers can request materials, presentations, and other resources for their students.

The Nevada Afterschool Network is here to provide outreach and advocacy for parents, children and out-of-school program providers. We want to be the best Network we can be, so we rely on your feedback and participation to make the Network achieve it’s goals.
