Nevada NASA Space Grant Consortium

The Nevada NASA Space Grant Consortium was established in 1991 with a grant from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration NASA and is comprised of Nevada’s eight state institutions of higher learning.

We support the national agenda to develop a strong math, science, engineering and technology education base through the funding of research and higher education programs, and by supporting students through scholarships, fellowships and internships, and by partnering with industry and local government.

Our academic member institutions consist of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) and the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR), Nevada State College (NSC) in Henderson, Western Nevada College (WNC) in Carson City, Great Basin College (GBC) in Elko, Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC) in Reno, the College of Southern Nevada (CSN) in Las Vegas, and the Desert Research Institute (DRI) with locations in Las Vegas and Reno.

Nevada GEAR UP

GEAR UP provides services to increase basic academic skills to enable students to succeed in postsecondary education, improve GEAR UP schools through coordination with school improvement plans and to increase a common understanding of P-16 articulation issues among Nevada middle and high schools, and to increase GEAR UP student access to postsecondary education options. GEAR UP students may be eligible for up to $10,000 if they participate in GEAR UP, graduate from high school with a 2.0 GPA or higher and attend a Nevada college or university.

CRA-W Computing Research Association for Women

The Computer Research Association’s Committee on the Status of Women in Computing Research (CRA-W) is an action oriented organization dedicated to increasing the number of women participating in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) research and education at all levels.

In addition to increasing the number of women involved, we also seek to increase the degree of success they experience and to provide a forum for addressing problems that often fall disproportionately within women’s domain. We are hopeful that the committee activities will also have a positive impact for other underrepresented groups in CSE and we are committed to improving the working environment for
Computer Scientists and Engineers of both genders.

Nevada Agriculture in the Classroom

Nevada Agriculture in the Classroom is a resource for teachers to help students develop an understanding of the food, fiber and landscaping systems and how agriculture affects their daily lives. This knowledge encourages students to function more effectively as agriculturally literate citizens, supportive of wise environmental policies and programs.
Teachers can request materials, presentations, and other resources for their students.
